Lookin for someone to put up some coyotes for me

Post by 22-250AI »

I want to pay someone to skin, flesh and stretch my coyotes from this year.

I would rather hunt than work on fur and really want to send them off to the tannery.

I'm located in Bismarck.

Not allot of sewing, no blown up coyotes or allot of blood all good shots.

Thanks in advance

like mitch mentioned how many?? I would be more than willing to put them up, but the price would have to be right.

The going rate is 6.00 per hide, skinning not included so you would have to allow for that..
How long have they been laying around???

I would talk to your local furbuyer about skinning them for you, and then giving them back to you for tanning. I bet he wont charge much.

8 total so far for me and I think Optimax and CooperAI have some as well.

The first four I shot this year was the end of Dec. that makes mine about two months old. With the weather warming up I want these taken care of.

Looking for case skinned with the feet on. I will pay $20.00 each as long as they are put up taxidermy quality.

Anybody interested P.M. me your contact info and we can hash out details.

Thanks guys !!

Putting these coyotes up with feet on can be a touchy subject at times. Some guys are good and some guys are bad at it. There is a fur video out there that levi and i have (can't remeber the title but levi might) and he shows how to skin a coytote with the claws left in. I think when you figure the cost of video you could save yourself some money. There will be no gurantees if i do it, because with the fur industry you never know what will happen when it goes the tannery. I have heard some bad stories of either they didn't get there fur back, or parts of the coyote had fallen off or is missing most of its hair. I have one that i shot ( a large male) that i put up the other day he had two sore spots on him when i opened him up and sure enough the hair slipped right in those two spots

First off if the coyotes are going to be tanned all thats needed is to skin them and flesh them or just skin them and the taxidermists will do the rest..
For skinning out the feet its not to hard to do.
You can either make a slit in the front legs (below the knee) and down to the base of the pad or skin all the way.. I prefer to make the slit.. When you get the hide off the rest of the animal and you are down to the feet you take a knife and cut under the padd to free it and then continue to skin down to the second knuckle and the cut remaining bone with a electrical side cutters, part of the toe bone is left in...Or you can just skin to the ankle joint and cut the bone loose there and the taxidermist will do the rest...

Now here is a big problem>> You said the coyotes have been laying for almost a month unskinned.. The bellies are really going to be green and bacteria may have already set in, not good..
Just maybe things may work out and its not to badd but you won't know till you get it back from the tannery...Once back there may not be any fur left on the belly or it will shed fur till its mostly gone... The best thing to do if you plan to tan a hide or even sell them is get the skin off right away or sell them right away...Good luck....

So if the coyotes have been frozen solid for the entire time, you think there is still a problem with hair loss?????? Mine were out side in this artic temps and are in the shade, some under a little snow...........
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

They should all be fine if they stayed frozen, if there was any freeze, then thaw, then I dont know, so may slip

I brought my coyotes home from my last trip in Dec. un-skinned. The temp.s where in the -15 to -0. They layed around for a day or so when i got back then i thawed and skinned them. About half was just getting a little green and the other half was starting to green up but was'nt bad... What spoils or causes the hide to turn green is the stomach acid and have them in or around heat just speeds things up.. Have someone skin them out then you will know for sure what you got..
The only way i know to prevent the stomachs from getting green is the coyote has to be hung by all four feet from a pole upside down so the stomach rests against the back bone and rib cage and away from the belly skin..
