Snows or yotes??

Post by ducksmuggler »

Ok so the GF wants me to go with her to Mandan for the Horse action on march 20th. I said I am not gona be in gods country and not have a GUN!!!!

SO we are staying at her freinds house in Napoleon and I am trying to make my mind up weather to bring the rifle and coyote hunt or bring the dog and shotgun and chase snows..... knowing that I will end up with a lot of windsheild time.

Help me make up my mind...or anyone what to make a few sets??????

Cause I would like to try my luck and I mean TRY MY LUCK at coyotes out there for something diff. for once, just never done it.

You'd probably have better luck trying for coyotes. Unless you plan on bringing a layout blind and a few hundred decoys. The snows get smart to the roads after a week or so which makes ditch-pigging nearly impossible.

I don't understand the problem, you bring both guns and hunt both.... I never leave city limits without my guns ( take that back last week we went up to the tailrace fishing in the boat and I didn't throw the rifle in the truck  )

Unless we get a major warm spell the snows will still be south of there........ And there is lots of snow in that country.... And if it starts melting fast in that area bring a boat cause they are talking major water every where.........

Hate to be a bearer of bad news, but unless the conditions are just right travel on the back country roads could be tough.

That being said there are a shit load of coyotes in that area, land is good, somewhat open, with most farmers will give permission. Snowmoblies are plenty and critters are back in off the roads, with plenty of leg you can get to them :D

that's more of what I was looking for!!! :D :D snowshoes, knee high boots or waders to stay dry it don't matter: and both kinda is my plan now cause I cann't get anyone to watch my dog. I am just trying to decide what the main thing I am gonna try to kill is. If there is more snow than sheet water or the sloughs are still froze solid... then its a hands down deal. COYOTES just looking for some help!! and will be hunting BY MY SELF if anyone whats to hunt or just meet to put a face with a name,

You might not want to rule out knee high boots straped into a pair of snowshoes

Last year the one feild we set up in, was shallow water in the morning, by after noon things got mealting and our blinds were swimming... Lucky for me my buddies got tubs in there blind or we would have been flooded out of that feild.............
