Re: 1 shooter
Coyotehunter You are correct about practiceing on other types of targets at different yardages but first a shooter needs to know how his gun performs and how well a shooter shoots..
I practice on paper to improve my skills at different yardages and it makes it easier to find out what needs to be improved on like trigger pull, eye to scope to target line up, or how I hold the rifle. After some practice and a little tuneing youre groups should always be consistant in size and smaller.. The performance of youre loads can also be tested when you punch paper at different yardages. One type or weight of bullet may shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yds but may not do so hot farther down range.. Once the proper load is found and any bad shooting habbits are corrected then its time to practice shooting at silhouette's..
When shooting at silhouette's all it tells you is you hit it or missed and nothing as far as why you missed.

Re: 1 shooter
Not too bad, still need some practice with the new gun, but for factory loads I don't think this is too bad.

Re: 1 shooter
Here's a couple groups. Of the two, which would you pick to shoot? They're both 3 shot groups:

or

The first group has a bit of a flyer, but I think that was me, not the load...

Re: 1 shooter
I am assuming those groups are from a 100 yards? If they are i would take each load and shoot it at 200 and 300, then post what your groups are.

Re: 1 shooter
Yup, they're both from 100 yards. I'll see what I can do about 200-300 yards. Might be awhile til I can hit a range.

Re: 1 shooter
Is that still at 100 yards, try them at 200 yards and see if they still hold that nice tight grouping
