affects of a full moon

Post by LeviM »

I have noticed the past few years that the day of a full is harder to call in coyotes. I made a few stands this weekend with the cold weather and had no success calling coyotes. I had a lot of fresh coyote sign at each location but no response from the coyotes. Has anyone else noticed this? Are we best hunting them at night during the moon light Vs the day time?

This same topic is on page two but was not gone into in great depth. Jamie posted something about it and how it affected him but nobody got into specifics. I agree 100% that when there is a full moon the daytime hunting can really suck. Fresh sign was all over for me this weekend too but the day time calling showed no results. I would like to get out and try this night time hunting a little more. As a wise coyote hunter said before and i agree with him that coyotes that have been hunted hard should be pursued at night during a fullmoon. I think it is easier for the yote to see at night and there not bothered then. Also the snow this past weekend was like stepping on little firecrackers. I bet every coyote for 1/2 mile could hear that snow crunching when i was walking to my stands :x
