Jeffrey City Coyote Round-Up
Hello. I am new to this site and also to coyote calling, so bare with me as I blunder through this learning process. This past weekend was the Jeffrey City Wyoming Coyote Hunt. It was omly the second competition hunt I have ever entered. I did pretty good calling, it was just the shooting that I had trouble with. The first day on my 1st stand I called in a pair with a borrowed Foxpro.(I figured the electronic call might help since I was the only team with out a partner)The lead dog came in to about 40 yards and tried to get down wind of me. The back dog hung up about 80 yards out and hid behind some sagebrush. Ilet the lead dog get to within 30 yards or so and it stopped so Ilet him have it with the shotgun, twice. I saw him crumble and role down into a deep cow trail. I tried to stop the second dog, But he just kept running. I stayed down and went through another series on the call and then went to retrieve my coyote. When I got to where he was he was gone. Followed blood trail for half mile and decided to get back to the hunt. Three more stands with no response so I put th Foxpro away and went back to my Dan Thompson Mouth calls. The fifth stand of the day I called in a dog to seventy five yards and dropped it with my new Remmington VTR R-15. First coyote killed with that gun. The next stand called one in to 40 yards and was winded before I could get positioned and get off a shot. The last stand of of the day I had some call wise dogs hang up in the willows on me and they only came out when it was to dark. The second day Ist Stand I called in a pair to 60 yards tried to shoot the back dog and flat missed with my new gun.(I still get the jitters when I call one in) Next stand I howled and got a respnse from a couple but they were more interested in some noise down the creek.I could only get the back dog to stop for a few seconds at a time. I was ableto knock him down at 213 yards with my new gun. i called in two more the second day but some one on the county road stopped to shoot at them and they left in a hurry. Sorry, I,m a littlte long winded. Ill wrap this up, and I hope to hear back from some of you proffessionals out their.

Re: Jeffrey City Coyote Round-Up
i know all about the missing part. my gun and i can shoot half inch groups on paper but put a running coyote in front of me and my shooting at times can be described as HORRID. sounds like you had a good time though

the more food you have in your mouth at one time, the better you can taste it!!!
