West Nile Virus

Post by Dcoy »

Didn't want to hijack other threads but this is a disease too often ignored or forgotten about by many of us.The 'oh it won't happen to me' syndrome can kill you.Believe me,you don't want this disease.August is about the worst month so be careful out there.
The following is from/about the latest conference on the disease and applies not only in SoDak.

Most who contract it are sick but only mildly. However, many are crippled or die or NEVER get over it.
Here are some of the symptoms many live with.

Rory came down with it last year. Nasty stuff. I lost a really nice horse to it last year. Had to watch him suffer for a week before I got the blood work back from the vet. By then it was to late to treat and I had to put him down.
