Closest Miss!

Post by lyonch »

I figured i better post this before levi does! Well we were out hunting this weekend and the second to that last stand i was over looking a flat that had a bunch of little draws in it with some cattails for cover cause it was windy out. well about 5 minutes into the stand i look to my left and above me cause i thought i had heard something and there it was Mr./Mrs. (dont know) but youg coyote looking at me. I could have literally reached out lunged and grabed it. so i lipsqueaked trying to keep it close and that alerted levi. With all the stupid things i have done in my life i think i did the dumbest one yet and left the shot gun in the truck. As i slowly turned to get the rifle on it it started to bound/jump away from me and at ten yards and my scope at 5.5 power all i could see was funr then no fur, fur then no fur, so i let one rip wich was another mistake i should have let it get farther away. I FRICKEN MISSED!!!! i couldn't bielieve it. I think i was so shocked at the whole event that i missed all my shots as it ran away. i could have hung up the gear right there. i was so upset at myslef and not to mention the confidence killer that was. Yet again i will get out there and raise some more hell this coming weekend at the classic. Results of the day were 10 good stands. called in 6 shot 2 and jamie there is one stand we need to discuss at the classic.

when i first saw that coyote my eyes were bigger than that i think. The look that young coyote had on its face was funny. I though it was going to ask me if i was going to share that rabbit with him  oh well at least we got out and called some in, insome winds for a change.

Sounds like a good time, but they sure have a way of scaring the hell out of a guy when they get that close without seeing them, man they are sneaky!
