Moutain Lion
I heard the first lion was killed near grassy butte. 110 lbs don't know any details yet if it was a road kill or kiled with a firearm or bow.
I would rather have a slow hit than a fast miss...

I think the quota this year is up to 8 for that area.

The first mountain lion of the season has been killed in North Dakota.Rick Mittleider of Tappen shot the cougar Wednesday near Grassy Butte. He says it was a 107-pound female.
Mittleider says he and two others were using a predator call to try to attract a cougar, and it worked. The lion was taken in Zone 1, which encompasses the Badlands south of Williston. Zone 2 includes the rest of the state. The quota for Zone 1 is eight lions. Zone 2 has no quota.

Re: Moutain Lion
Lion #2 has been killed by a Williston bow hunter named Jake Bloxham. He arrowed the cat last night and found it this morning. Male cat not sure of the weight but still awesome it was stuck with a arrow. I think I need to take some time off and spend a few days alittle west of here

Fallguy,I talked to George Mittleider whos family is from Sykeston and he said that is his uncle.
I heard the one with the bow was at about eight yards, that would be a rush. Cool to see that someone actually called one in here.

Rick, is a fur buyer and bought the coyotes from the 1st NDCC. He has coyote hunted with Murray Burnham, and bill Auston. Very nice guy and knowledgeable about coyotes. I had a great visit with him at his house one time. He has a full body mount of a albino coyote in his living room that was shot over by Beaver creek north of Wishek.crtrgtr223 wrote:By Associated Press

Re: Moutain Lion
Andrew Wiseman suspects his mom will be happy with the trophy he brought home on Oct. 25.
The 17-year-old Bismarck Century High School junior shot a female mountain lion that day, which was something he had been talking about for so long that he assumed his mom would be glad to hear it was over.
"I've been hunting since I could walk,"he said.
Randy Kreil, chief of the wildlife division for North Dakota Game and Fish Department, confirmed the kill as the third of the year in the Badlands.
Wiseman said he shot the cat with a .22-250 rifle near Lone Butte.
"We went out specially, just for the fun of it, to call one in," he said.
Wiseman said the mountain lion was a 75-pound female and probably was 1½ or 2 years old.
The lion was taken in zone 1, which roughly covers the area of the Badlands south of Williston and encompasses McKenzie, Dunn, Billings, Golden Valley, Slope and Bowman counties. Wiseman's was the third mountain lion shot in zone 1, where there is an eight-cat quota determining the length of the hunting season. The rest of the state is in zone 2, where there is no quota.

Seperate! One was shot by a Marine home on leave. Both shot while deer hunting though.
