I don't use shooting stix and that is one of the reasons.

The real deep snow makes things tough for them. If there is a lot of deer dying due to winterkill it can shut down calling but if the deer aren't tipping over yet i have had some great days when the snow was balls deep and real cold.

to deep and they'll shut down too. So unless you're right on top of them they won't move. A good 6 inches is great.

Get a good wet,heavy 4-5 inches first to flatten the CRP,then add the soft 6.
